I head that on the SAS hoon today, to Salisbury, that there were a number of PHers/SASers whose driving standards were deemed to be extremely dangerous on quite a number of occasions, which caused some pretty serious issues and concerns both to fellow members, and the public at large.

Would anyone care to name and shame, and explain exactly what happened?

From what I've already heard, it's obviously got to the stage where there are a number of people whose future attendance will not be welcome at any future event, and as a direct result, will now lead to future meets being arranged in a private environment.

John - I'd rather not name the people concerned.

But concerns have been expressed. I was not there, so can't comment myself - hence my asking what did happen.

Suffice to say, it was more than one person.

If nothing happened, then that's fine. But it would be best that if anything did happen (and I'm led to believe a number of things did), then it should be discussed publicly and openly, so that it does not happen again, and also sets some form of groundrules or expectations about future behaviour.

It was partially this very thing that led to the TR forums - plus similiar things happening in other regions.

I wasn't there today however I feel it is prudent to add the fllowing:

This should not be a one sided "guantanamo PH"

This should not be a name and shame but a raising of concerns with an adult email to the accused

If people have such concerns they should be able to mention the "offending" action here.

We should remember that one persons evpviromentalist is antlers terrorist.

Is it worth having a standard post type like in AVF' classifieds with hook guidelines to avoid confusion.

And above all else we all make mistakes!

Now what happened here . . .

I assume K that you have in fact already told who is involved so if we are naming and shaming then surely just go ahead. I wasn't there this morning but would be interested to know if anything was mentioned to them in person and if not why not?

I'm new to the group, but this thread has come as a real surprise??? I was actually really impressed with the run in general. Everyone seemed to be having a good time while keeping it relatively safe and sensible???

I also was at the back for the entire run and couldn't always see the entire pack but there was nothing said over breakfast or over the radios at any time. I'm confused.

Well, I guess the bottom line is that if no-one saw anything; and no-one raised any issues or concerns to anyone, either directly or indirectly, at any stage during the day, then clearly nothing happened.

In which case I will firstly apologise profusely, and secondly, and more importantly, I will request a direct apology from those who raised these issues with me to start with; as it would appear to be a non-issue.

And for the record - no-one was named in any alledged incident.

So again, sincere apologies everyone.

But I will please ask for one thing. For those of you who have issues or concerns then please step forward - because if they are not raised, then they'll never be discussed nor resolved (if it requires any). At the very very least - please discuss it with those concerned directly.

We all know I'm die-hard SAS, along with the rest of us; and will do I can for us as a group. The very last thing I want is any form of discord with the group. One big happy family works for me.

And as my fingers have already been burnt over this - I just ask that if anyone has any issues then please do NOT email or MSN me ..... just post on here. You are all well respected within the group; so your comments would be taken seriously (as I took them).

Apologies again to all.

Excellent, so we have a grievance lodged by an unknown and not to be named person, to a person who wasn't on the run who has now started this thread. Now we are asking for other people to stand up and be counted by way of naming and shaming those people accused of being at fault because the original person doesn't want to - however despite this 2 people so far who were on the run know nothing about this and nothing was mentioned this morning to anyone else in person that we know of.

Surely someone needs to grab there sack (or lady pillows if female) and raise a beef themselves if they have a problem with someone else's driving - I have no idea of the people involved either with the driving or with the problem, but I think this is a very dangerous way of dealing with it, accusations from the shadows.

Edited to add: Cheers Kinks, posted at same time as you were posting yours.

FFS, if this is going to go on, whoever told kinky needs to post up what they had an issue with right NOW and stop fking about.

I wasn't there but I've witnessed and I've also done things that maybe weren't the best idea with hindsight in the past however nothing was ever that silly. I would actually say the attitude (towards overtaking and such like) has improved over the years.

I have to be honest TC - I was extremely suprised myself.

The SAS hoons I've been on have all been fine Except incidents involving roundabouts .. you know who you arewink

But I'm no gatekeeper - we're all in this together. If there are any issues as a group, then they should be dealt with appropriately, as a group.

Perhaps I was a bit hasty in posting - but when I receive communications from a number of respected SASers; then I've no reason to disbelieve them. Except that I do now frown I'm just the mug in the middle.

Anyway, I was going to close this thread, and bring this [personally embarassing] thread to a close; but I'm going to leave it open in the hope that perhaps someone might step forward and publicly state that they were not happy for whatever reason.

As far as I'm concerned there's no case to answer, as no-one is willing to publicly step forward.
