At long last I am planning to make it to one of the lunchtime meet ups. It got me thinking, I live in Bagshot and having been in this general area for about 10 years and being rather partial to a decent fry up, I have in my head a list of all of my favourites cafes/places to sit with laptop, 'work' and have endless cups of tea. The first place I came across, back in the late 90s when I was living in Farnborough is the Rushmoor Cafe in North Camp. Since then I've still not found anywhere better, quality food, great prices, amazing service (the food arrives quickly and they take your plate away moments after you have finished - maybe that's just with me and they need my table..), really clean kitchen and always overstaffed (I think the guys are Turkish, here on 'holiday' and live above the place). There is a good place in Ascot but it's too pricey, there is the Astelet in Aldershot which is my second choice, nowhere in Bracknell, Camberley has a great new cafe that's next to a farmers market shop and the big Tesco in Camberley is okay but by the time have paid for your plate of grub, it's cold. In an ideal world the place would have great food, good prices and free WiFi smile Btw, Weatherspoon's are fine but tend to be full of alcoholics getting their first fix of the day at 9am and the smell of beer with the sausages just puts me off the food!

Old School Cafe, Longcross.

I believe the journos who test at the track frequent that one. Charlie may know more.

If you want somewhere close, then Jack's in Bagshot does a great breakfast (much better than their fish'n'chips!).

If you want the best around then it's The Gorge in Reading (right by Caversham bridge).

If you want a nice quiet breakfast in decent surroundings then Blackbushe Airport is pretty good.

There's also a nice little truckstop place on the A4 at Knowl Hill, another one on the A4 near Aldermaston, and there's a great little place on the A4074 near Wallingford called Fox's Diner (or is it Harley's now?) next door to the motorcycle accessories place.

There's always the place that used to be a Little Chef at West Meon Hut...

Not that far though, and for those sausages it's worth the journey sometimes.

Thanks all, a few new options there. Jack's is on my doorstep and the few times I've tried their breakfasts I've not rated it but I'll give it another go as they may have upped their game! I'm glad I'm not the only one who dines at the Rushmoor, it's really excellent. The Gorge, yes, great place too with generous portions.

For sheer gut busting quantity try a Hungry Horse breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatos, toast, mushrooms, beans, black pudding, chips and just in case thats not enough.... a hamburger as well! I'm not sure if there's one near you but I've eaten at the one in Bicester and MK and they've always been excellent. Pretty reasonably priced too, especially as you don't have to eat anything else that day after all that!
