Can anyone recommend a restaurant in Kingston upon Thames ? Going there for a meeting tomorrow morning that will hopefully end in a nice lunch somewhere.

I live in Kingston and I must say its not good for restaurants, lots of chain places Zizi, Wagamama etc. Al Forno in the High Street by the river is good, does pizzas, pasta but also proper Italian food. Been to their other one in New Malden a lot and its excellent.

Yes, Al Forno is nice. Been to both. There's that thai place (Patcheree?) round the back of the station on the corner. Nothing really up market, though, as stated above.

Zizi, Wagamama, Carluccio's all chains, so not my favourite. The Riverside Vegetarian or Jamie Oliver's new joint (on the Market place).

Are you ever in that cop shop James?

Personally, I don't think there are that many great restuarants in Kingston, it is more of a fast food area.

Kingston - I would venture a bit further out maybe outskirts of Wandswoth or Putney as there are some fine establishments there

Enough of your female conquests.

There's a nice Indian restaurant in New Malden. Lal Akash. Hang on, actually, ignore that. I don't want it to become so popular that I have to book a table.

Samratt, have been there a few years ago and didn't think it was that good, confirmed this with friends as well, hopefully they have changed hands and improved?

Will give it another try in the future, be it on your head biggrin

Do you live in some parallel universe that none of us know about.

Well done for creating a well know list of restaurants, none of which are in Kingston.

Your powers of observation are truly stunning wink

That's why he does what he does..

Wasn't it Jamie Oliver that attempted that crusade on school dinners.
Now Ramsey your talking.. food with some strong wordingredcard
I think the choice of say Bluebeckers at Hampton is not far away from Kingston
But it may be worth a little excursion just on the outskirts for the #1 choice.

Yes I realised it was all messed up so in for the quick edit.
Must try not typing with my side 10 feet next time lol

Have done some black tie rugby dinners
Gloucester Hotel and slept it off in Hyde Park
Thge City Dinner in E1 was an awesome night out

And place I cant rememember which was psrt run bt Micheal Caine - awesome food.

But for simple nights out
The Princess Cottage - Bagshot ( run by my Indian mate )
Basic no frills, good food and frendly service.
Another good one was Nepaleese Tandori at Caversham.

Now have to return to the ceiling.......

Oh I forgot

The Inn at West End
One of my locals run by the couple that used to own the Brickmakers at Windlesham

He has been there nine years in February.
Good food
Good Wine
Good Service

And has won quite a few awards
