Anyone else on TVS who has AOL.

Service is up and down like a 2 bit hookers draws.
System has been down now for over 12 hours here.
Checked with a few locals who have the same issues.

New equipment this end Router PC Etc Etc

So it's switcharoo time in the new year.
Who do you guys rate tops?

BT line here and owing to location no chance of cable.
My 3G works better than AOL ASDL

Been recomended to BT as they own the line so any issues can be sorted easy.
With AOL all I get is "It's your BT Line"
Cost not an issue I need a reliable connection.
House is wired for CAT connection for kids rooms, kitchen & workshop.
Only issue may be if I went with Sky package as all the Sky box & that sort of gear is located well away from where the phone lines and main office PC is located.
I Think with SKY you need to connect reciever box to the BT line.

Have the choice of 4 lines and have had the service moved once which made
no difference, problems seem to stem from the time which AOL upgraded the exchange
equipment which is 01483 Brookwood.
I have an 01276 line which I think comes from either Chobham or Bagshot so could
have BT or ANother on that one.
I have heard there can be issues if you tell one provider to go swing, which results in them putting a hold or tag on your line to prevent another provider using it. However I can just get the new provider on a different line.

OK guys shoot..........

Rick,

I have BT Option 3 its been 5 years now plus another 4 at the parental units house.

The only thing with BT is iunless you have a unlimited ac they have been known to "slow the service" due to Excess use.

We use allot of Bandwidth the missus is always on VOIP talking to family in the states and the continent. Im usually abusing the work email etc,

Cant fault them though the extra £2-3 per month for the big package is worth it

Well after much fannying about
Phone calls to the Punjab
Emails - strong words that would get your ass shafted on here.
Swapping out this and that
Changing settings

I was about to give the system some percussive maintainance
Have ordered BT (opt 3) but have not even had a confirmation from them....... yet.

So resigned to use my 3G plug in which works very well.

Just noticed the router connection light is now green and not amber.
Bugger me sideways it has detected service.
So after all that farting around and litte help from AOL there now seems to be signal at the
line. some engineer has resolved the problem - thanks pal.
Must be something at the exchange or their equipment
Got onto the AOL help site and there is now a section for BB equipment upgrade.
WTF why could that garlic smelling banker tell me about in the first place
Something to do with BBdial which is the upgrade programme gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
It took out my connection at 23:59 hours on 25/12 ?????

Good Bye AOL very soonbyebyebanghead

Have AOL in system but tend to use IE 8 or Firefox
We are on the fringe of the exchange network however the signal on the cable went off at midnight Christmas day fek knows why.

Anyway upgrade soon -----
