Warning - ANPR A322 - Warning
Discussion
Just got back from Guildford
A322 at Bisley / West End right at the bridge on the bend.
ANPR van - unmarked
Two BIB on bikes
Vauxhall with roof ANPR
And a very smart new Focus STi
Looks like there looking for Un-Taxed & Un-Insured as the traffic is too busy to get on he hoof.
Well good as the un-insured at a menace.
In the words of Shaw Taylor "Keep em Peeled."

Who exactly are you warning and why?
Perhaps if you read the posting again you might just grasp the intention.I'd not expect any of us to be concerned by the ANPR at all - or I'd be EXTREMELY suprised if any of us were.
Now, on the other hand ..... at 7:30 this morning was a Casualty Reduction Unit parked up on the A30, just by LongAcres garden Centre (just after the mini-roundabout to take you onto the A322 down to the M3).

Unless your say 5 miles over the speed limit then it's £60 and 3pts on yer brief. Now, on the other hand ..... at 7:30 this morning was a Casualty Reduction Unit parked up on the A30, just by LongAcres garden Centre (just after the mini-roundabout to take you onto the A322 down to the M3).
The Unit in question has the same system hidden behind those drop down rear windows. Tucked away round a bend and before your know it there in yer face.
But hey I won't bother next time get nicked se if I care.

We appreciate the heads up, the constant surveillance winds me up aswell but I rather we didn't have uninsured/untaxed motorists on the road as ANPR only monitor these offenders.
Scamera vans on the other hand wind me up a treat.
The unmarked van in question is not only fitted with ANPR
but also conventional speed camera device as used in Scamera vans.
The same vehicle is used on bridges, parked out of site with the camera units placed on tripods all very covert....
The position of these vehicles suggests a combined operation.
Yes I do know the difference between the two systems, if fact have first hand knowledge of the systems, camera operation, the sortware used and the purpose.
(This equipment and software is availble through well known suppliers)
A strange place to set up and anyone who knows the area not the safest place
to conduct this sort of operation.
It was intended as a "Heads Up"
but also conventional speed camera device as used in Scamera vans.

....so, what are all the other cameras on tripods for then when they've got the ANPR cameras sticking out of those 'top windows'?Not being arsey - just interested ...as they park one of those things regularly on the A30 past Ashford Hospital and they often have two or three tripods around the van facing both ways
Think you will find they are combined camera with ANPR.
I know someone who got pulled over there by the Aggregate Plant.
A little over the speed limit however was given a police warning after a quick vehicle check by VOSA who were also checking mainly commercial vehicles.
Contary to popular belief combined operations are more common now.
ANPR with conventional speed detection, vehicle checks by Polise and / or VOSA which include private and commercial HGV etc.
There are many fixed ANPR systems in operation not only for monitoring general vehicle movements, plus Congestion Charging and Low Emission Zone monitoring.
Big Brother is watching you and is after the contents of your wallet £££
The drop down windows of the unmarked white van used yesterday had conventional
speed camera equipment plus additional ANPR system.
This is not the big van with the Sat / SIS link system like the one recenty seen in Bracknell and used by TV Police.
It's the same type of van as used on the A31 and A3 etc, plus the backing of additional officers with additional ANPR on a traffic patrol car.
Strange new camera systems being installed on the A3 at Roehamption and the A322 at the Coral Reef are good examples, plus the new digital Red Light / Speed cameras going up at Bagshot (Taken down as put up in the wrong place at first)
Yesterday these guys were pitched up right outside the garden furnature centre, I just happened to be in there as they were setting up and passed through twice while on local runs.
Of couse if your whiter than white, squeaky clean and never violate any laws or traffic regulations you have nothing to worry about.
As for the comment from the midlands based keyboard warrior - don't be limp dick all life.
