Here I am near the top floor of our high office building, on the edge of deepest Basingstoke .......

And a Vulcan has just flown past, and turned only a few hundred feet away.

Absolutely awesome sight.

He came from the Farnborough direction, and headed back that way, so I assume somethings going on there.

No sign of him coming back yet frown

Awesome plane! biggrin

Last time I saw that thing flying was about 18 years ago. The noise alone is something else!

I'm glad it's been recommissioned! thumbup

Awesome plane. One or two VMAXes ago a few PHers visted the Vulcan in it's hanger at Brunters, saw the plane, videos of takeoff etc.

Saw it land at Farnborough a few weeks ago - awesome.

My folks really wanted to see it leave but they couldn't make it today. Shame as it may never take to the air again frown

Awesome planes!

I remember clearly seeing one flying at Biggin Hill Air Show a good few years ago. It's indelibly etched into my memory because as soon as it was off the ground the pilot just pointed its nose skywards and opened the engines up onto full power, the smell of unburnt fuel lingering thick in the air. OMG yikescloud9 The noise! The sensation of the noise. It was so loud it made your chest cavity vibrate. It felt like it was shaking all your internal organs. Unforgettable.

It was, and remains, quite simply a fcensoreding awesome experience.

Had the pleasure of seeing it yesterday too... Was on the M3 on the way back from Winchester, near Amazingstoke, and saw it banking around.

Funnily enough i tried to explain to Mrs W the significance of what it was.... she didn't get it and called me a 'spotter'. hehe

Brilliant!

I've sat in one or two of them, they used to take off over my house all the time. That was nearly 40 years ago though!
