I have had my Barchetta for about 16 months now and its about time for a change. The B has been great fun, very sprightly for a 1.8 and handles very well but over the past couple of months I have found myself underneath it fixing bits rather than in it! I paid 2.9k for it and hopefully should be able to get about the same when it comes to selling it.

Question is, what to replace it with on a budget of about £6k-ish (I would like to stick with a 2 seater conv)? I need something I can drive everyday so it needs to be reliable and 'usable'. I don't want anything like an MX-5, imho for the class of car I don't think you can get better than the Barchetta. I have toyed with a TVR S but don't think it could be relied on every day of the week, I also fancy an Elise but have a back condition so the ride would kill me.

My initial thought is a 2.8 Z3, there seem to be quite a few about for a reasonable price like this one; http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/735239.htm

Anyone owned one? - if so what are they like to live with?

I am probably going to be looking to buy toward the end of the year as I am 'between contracts' at the moment but should have something sorted soon. I have owned a couple of beemer's in the past and have always loved them but don't know anyone who has owned a Z3...............

Opinions, ideas, thoughts, experiences please.......

Graeme, you must be mad as a bag of frogs to sell for that! I am very tempted but am not sure that she would fit the bill as a daily driver though! - I will mention it to Stu (guy with the MG), he was looking for one a couple of months ago............

I might turn up for a test drive biggrin

Hmmmmmmmm, idea you have me thinking now - to hell with a reliable German car, where's the fun in that - off to speak to the missus......................

There are plenty of people on here who use their Chims as daily drives. Do a search on the Chim forum.
Mine just isn't practical for me as a daily drive, but i still put 10k+ miles per year on her.
How many miles do you think you would be doing each year, and how long is your journey to work?

Hi Graeme, sorry I have not been in touch, we have just been away for the kids 1/2 term. How did you get on - did you manage to sell her?

I had a chat with the missus about buying the Tiv, if it were not for the fact that I am out of work at the moment I think that there would have been a chance I could have talked her around but realistically I don't think it will be a go-er. If my situation changes before you sell her I will be in touch, in the meantime if you fancy going out for a spin one afternoon give me a bell............

Hi Lee
I am now keeping my p&j which i can say is a great releif as i felt sick at the thought off the space on the drive and no smile factor, will give you a shout soon to go for a drive.
