The college I'd been parking in for the last 13 months have sneakily changed the code to their gates. whistle So I'm a bit stuck for somewhere to park in East Oxford now, I don't really like leaving my car in the road as I know once the students return I won't be able to leave it anywhere near my house and it'll probably suffer from vandalism.

I filled out an application for a garage on the councils website about two weeks ago but haven't heard anything back. Anybody know of any off road parking around the Cowley/Iffley road areas? Or does anyone have a drive up for rent?

Bit of a long shot I know, but cheers in advance.

Hang about the gates where you used to park and make a note of the new code when someone enters?

Thought about it, bit hard to do without looking dodgy though. I always said I'd park there until someone told me not to, I sort of figured that changing the keycode was a fairly polite get lost.

I had a similar issue to this until recently. Just started on a project in Headington and started parking in the Churchill Hospital car park. The security banned me from doing this even though I was putting £10.00 per day in their coffers and the car park is usually half empty. Sound financial management from the NHS rolleyes

Anyway, I walked around a housing estate next to the project office and knocked on doors. Third door I knocked on was answered by a pleasant retired gentleman who has let me park on his driveway for £5 per day. I pay him a month up front.

The only time I did park on the street it was a 10 minute walk from the office in the pissing rain and some scrote broke the windscreen wiper on the Range Rover. Terrible thing jealousy!

HTH.

Alternatively, when the students return, a fiver in their pocket to keep you informed about the latest code.

Good thinking, I used to rent a house that backed onto said halls and the previous tenants passed the gate code onto me. It's a hall of residency for foreign students who need accommodation for their families as well whilst they're studying at Oxford. As such most of them are mature and not normal students, also there's only about two or three of them out of the ten or so flats that own cars so there's plenty of space to spare. Although they might not be as likely to want anything to do with some bloke offering them money for a security code.

At the moment I'm parking in Hurst Street just off Cowley road, there's no parking restrictions but it is a bit of a worry. Noticed someone had been down Bullingdon road one night and kicked the door mirrors off 7 or 8 cars. Idiots.

Oxfords a nightmare for parking, but I guess that's nothing new, I tried emailing the council again about garages (they quote £12 a week on the website, which is very reasonable) but I've still not heard anything.
