Serious collision - Maidenhead

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Hawthorn Hill near Maidenhead yesterday (27/7).

At about 4.50pm, two motorcycles were driving along Drift Road, heading from Ascot Road, Maidenhead, towards Windsor, when one of the bikes - a blue Suzuki GSXR 750 sports motorcycle - left the road and went into a ditch.

A 27-year-old man from Maidenhead, who was riding the Suzuki motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital in a stable condition.

Sounds like he lost control. However, I don't know anything other than that's a dangerous road.

The only person in my year group when I was at school I trusted to drive me anywhere rolled his car over on that road.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

I don't think it's dangerous, but I do think it's quite a fast bit of road that could catch people out, strange they're talking about there being another bike.

Hope he's out & on his feet again soon.

It's a relatively safe stretch of road since the visibility is generally quite good. It is a very fast stretch of road however, with 2 dodgy corners.

It's always amazed me that I've never once seen a speed trap down there.

Thanks people I know the road isnt a good one. I know he has suffered serious injuries to his head, ribs and spine, but hoping he will pull through.

Mrs Koenig had a nasty head on crash on the Hawthorn Hill corner several years ago, by the stables entrance.

It is certainly a place to watch out for oncoming vehicles to cut the corner and be right in your path.

Also I seen a few "ambitous" overtakes on the main bit of Drift Road, only for the drvier to find a lorry coming out of the landfill site in thier way! Much squelling of brakes and skids (road and trousers I am sure)

Yeah, That's a fast stretch of road where the on coming traffic isn't always visible, even on the straights due to the undulating road.

I nearly hit someone in Hawthorne Hill last week, as i came around a bend, they were almost completely on the wrongside of the road, over taking a cyclist... mad
