I'm not usually one for double-posting, but as this is our local patch, I'm sure there might be a local who might be able to help ......

Although I know a bit about bikes, I wanted a bit of help when buying my girlfriends bike. We went to Cycleworks in Guildford who were very helpful.

They advised her against a more expensive bike as it wouldn't have suited her riding, and set up the bike with her when we bought one. I've used their Leatherhead shop and found them just as helpful.

Stows in Deadworth, if you are up Windsor way again. Sam in there is a bit of a petrol head, and very knowledgable about bikes, and good at not just picking the most expensive thing on the shelf to sell.

(Say Hi to him for me if you get in there, and tell him the V8 pedals were just the job).

I was recommended Berkshire Bikes in Crowthorne by JPJ, and by our vicars wife, and I have to say that it was the best bit of advice I've had in ages thumbup

In the end (today) we went for Berkshire Bikes on Crowthorne high street.

I have to say that they were absolutely brilliant. We had the girl look after us (didn't get her name) - but she was very friendly, helpful and patient and nothing was a bother for her.

Suffice to say it was a genuine breath of fresh air to be dealt with in such a manner - especially after the past experiences we've had*

Needless to say, we left there with £250ish less in the pocket.

Thank you all again thumbup

* I've been relaying our experiences to local friends, etc and it transpires that they've had very similiar/identical experiences - so it's clearly not just us.
