Does anyone know of a qualified installer taht may be able to fit a new boiler at very short notice?

I have a problem with my 18 year old boiler which British Gas have been unable to sort out. The problem is with the flue. The pressure switch isn't switched because of incorrect back pressure. If it is possible to rectify this then even better, but it seems as though the boiler was fitted wrong all those years ago because the parts of the flue don't quite fit together perfectly. The collars are just about holding onto them by 2mm or so rather than them being butted up to one another and clamping them fully!

If you can help, or know somebidy that can, I would be very grateful.

Cheers,
Gary

Very odd question Gary but have BG always serviced your boiler?

I took out homecare which started on Christmas eve of last year because the pilot light wouldn't stay on. I'd moved out (into a flat I let out previously) in June of last year hoping to sell the first one, but whoever was interested couldn't get a mortgage!

When the BG engineer turned up on Christmas eve, the pilot light stayed on and raher than find out what may have caused the problem he pretty much said there was nothing that he could do (the BG engineer told me yesterday that they have to do so many jobs a day. I can imagine on Christmas eve, he wanted to get his quota asap). Well, on Tuesday, BG arrived to do a landlord inspection and found a gap between the 2 sections of the flue and also advised me that my bolier was listed as being difficult to sourc spare parts for. I wish i'd known that on Chrismas eve of last year.

Anyway I complained to a manager (eventually) that the engineer on Christmas eve did not investigate the problem. The engineer that came out on wednesday to do the initial inspection removed the cover to find the problem with the flue and wasn't surprised that the piolt light wouldn't stay ingnited....so why wasn't this investigated on Christmas eve? Also he had listed my boiler as a newer type of boiler which did have every spare part available. I asked what was the point of me having the top homecare package but a fault would probably mea me having to buy a new boiler.

I've remembered that I didn't check the 2 lower parts of the flue last night so i'm going to check that out this morning. I'm hoping the engineer yesterday didn't quite fit is sqaure which would leave a slight gap.

Sorry to drone on with not so much as a smiley, but I am hoping somebody can suggest a very simple fix.

I'm going to call the guy that Pete suggested, plus I also have a number that the BG engineer gave me last night. I hope that it isn't normal for some BG engineers to condemn boilers that are repairable...particularly if it gives a mate work. That's why I wanted a few more opinions.

Thanks all. I've just booked off another day from work so hopefully I can get it sorted out today, one way or another.
