Thought I'd share some pics of the superb trip to the Snowdonia area of Wales that I and a few other PHers' did a couple of weeks ago. We stayed in Betws-y-Coed for two nights, getting in several hours of hooning across Sunday and Monday. Betws-y-Coed is on the A5 and 15min drive from the Triangle.

Now the Triangle itself was not quite what I expected. It probably does'nt deserve all the hype IMHO. The A5 forms one side of it so the other two are the most interesting to people like us. They are great fun and very satisfying to drive but surprisingly short. Its good but not as good as some of the other roads in the area - which were just epic! Special thanks to PHer Slippydiff who kindly recommended a route to me which had some fantastic roads and scenery on it.

They're not the best pics I'm afraid but they give some idea of what its like out there. Some were taken by Quyen (Silver 996) and others by myself.

At the Triangle:

Can anyone smell brakes? whistle

These next two are towards the end of the best drive of the trip (Monday afternoon to evening). Deserted roads over the hills with a setting sun cloud9

Definately need to do a full-on SAS expedition to this part of the world sometime!! biggrin

We actually caught some really good weather whilst we were there. A few light showers on the first day and that was it. Was very windy up on the hilly parts of the Triangle on the first day (could feel the car being pushed around a bit at speed!)

Definately plan to return at some point. Some of the best roads I've driven, easily on a par with the last Welsh hoon I did (Brecon Beacons/Black Mountain).

John its worth a run up the Horseshoe pass the A542 from the bottom in Llangollen up the pass to Llantysilio Mountain.

I have done this many times (Grandparents used to live in Gresford)and on a nice day it is superb, avoid the beginning of July as its the International Eisteddfod (spelling)and is jammed.

Also the road that passes Lake Bala is a good run too.

I think we drove that. Horseshoe Pass definately rings a bell! scratchchin Justin (PH'er Saied) will probably know. He did a top job of leading us down some cracking roads on the Sunday and Monday morning.
