I get back to the car yesterday to find that someone has stoved in the drivers rear quarter (lights, bumper, rear drivers wing, etc) and then driven off. This wasn't a glancing impact, the petrol cap and 'pipe' is bent so they must have hit it at a fair old whack.
Having not had the experience of reporting a claim without a reg number to claim against, I guess this will affect my NCB?
To the idiot in the (i'm guessing here but judging by the damage) bull barred SUV, you suck.
This has put the new car back a week or two and as I'm travelling from Monday for over a week, is just a total pain in the proverbial.

Happened just outside the house. More annoying than anything else as it's a pain to sort out.
One lifeline though is that my neighbour's wife thinks that her hubby might have seen the car that did it but he's not back until tonight so fingers crossed.
One good thing though - I get a hire car to abuse and i'm insisting on something like for like (John_r's Audi thread is a masterclass in standing strong on these things).....
After all, it can be used for work too....

I had a feeling that would be the case for some reason (probably due to the type of drivers/cars/people I see everyday around our way!)Conciliatory pint this evening?
What time? 8.00?
What pub? The Spread?

In the word of the Churchill dog, ohhhhhhh yes. What time? 8.00?
What pub? The Spread?
You'll need to show me where it is though! I know where your house is roughly - I'll walk over for 8pm and you can lead the way

Thankfully the neighbour got the reg on the car (Mitsi Shogun) so it's all going through now.
Car will go in on Monday for repair.
Thats good news Neil, let us know when you want a posse to come round and "have a word" with the Shogun driver...Car will go in on Monday for repair.

I'm not exactly fully up to date on the law but I'm almost 100% certain that it makes absolutely no odds as to whether or not you were parked illegally as the blame will lie solely with him.
I reckon maybe some insurance companies would try and latch onto this in order to not pay out but I don't think any of them have a leg to stand on.
I suppose the good news is that he has actually admitted to hitting your car as opposed to claiming that he wasn't even there.
