Called up to renew my insurance tonight spoke to a good guy but abit useless to be honest...

DL: OK Quote £389 via DD for the year,
Me: yes id like to renew
DL: Can we check the details
Me: Yes
DL: Audi S3 2003, oh we have it as a 99-2001model,
Me its a 2003 as per last year.
DL: Please hold ............... 6mins...... Sorry
Me: ok no proble whats the situation was i insured?
DL: Yes, well no but we would have paid out as it was our error, it saved you on last years premium.
Me: was i Insured or NOT
DL: Sort of, however this years premium is now £417
Me: EH?
DL: Well youve change car
Me: No I havent
DL: You have
Me: HOW?
DL: well last year you insured a 99-2001 210 model, now you have a 2003 225 model?
Me: umm you mean OE03....
DL: Yes
Me: that you insured last year
DL: Yes
Me: So I havent change cars
DL: Well you have
Me: are you showing my SP30
DL: Ahhh
Me: What
DL: We where but now that makes your police £459!
Me: ummm ok So now im at £459 for the year via DD over 12
DL: No
Me: what now,
DL: 10% extra for DD?
Me; so you now want £500, an extra 111 for this phone call
DL: Yes,
Me: And thats the best you can do,
DL: you have 14days cooling off
Me: So you actually think im going to say yes,
DL:why not
Me: you may may not have insured me last year, you now want me to pay an extra 111 for your mistake.
DL: Yes, will you be taking the policy
Me: Will you stop taking the piss no, can you improve on that
DL: Nope, we offer Break down at an extra £89!
Me: Bye
DL: Shall I renew the policy sir
Me: ummmmmm Nope!
DL: Why
Me: Bye....

For the Boys in the know, especially the police would I have been insured in your eyes?

rofl I'd leave it at that and just make sure the docs are right this year, did you check your policy when you got it?

ETA - try Adrian Flux, Greenlight and A-Plan.

Imagine if you'd had a huge accident.

Do you think they'd cheerfully have paid out, or do you think they'd have been c0cks about it?

Exactly. Sack them. Nobbers.

I had a similar experience with them 2 years ago, but with not such a happy ending!

I insured my Jeep with them but managed to do this to it...........

Thankfully I was insured however I had taken the option of a hire car while mine was being repaired and paid for no claims protected...........

I re-modelled the front end of the car while on holiday so a hire car was a must have - they refused to provide a hire car as it was NOT on the policy (despite the fact I had paid for it). I had to spend £80 on a train ticket to get home and pick up our other car so we could continue the holiday.

Worse still they had not protected the no claims (despite the fact I paid for it), after countless calls to their 'don't care' centre they pointed out that despite the fact I had specified (and paid for), the car and protected no claims the policy sent to me via the post did not include them. Apparently it was my responsibility to quality check their administration, as I did not pick up their error it was my fault!

A word to the wise, always check the small print in your policy - if they can find a way of not paying out they will.............
