do you really think it makes a difference?
Are you going to be keeping the car for the next 20 years?
then put anything in it
Have to agree. A tank or two isn't going to do any harm. Certainly not worth worrying about.Are you going to be keeping the car for the next 20 years?

Dizeee - why have you been warned off Tesco 99? I'm not a big fan as mpg always seems lower when I have used it.
My local Shell was completely dry yesterday

But i stick with sainsburys super 2p per litre more than the norm and get 300 per tank (Tesco 99 only get 220). I cant be bothered with the pub talk value of using vpower etc.

I live next door to a Sainsbury's, might have to try their super next time i fill up.Try Shell on Slough Trading est. I was enviromentaly good to my wallet today and used a push bike to get to work. tad nerve wracking as I havent riden in about 20 years. feel good factor was high then came crashing back down when kids went passed me. I must of looked like a mountain of vaseline with a heart condition !! bloddy hard work but a least I saved a few pennies.

I've noticed that V Power seems to be the last thing to see out.
There were photos on the news to illustrate the 'shortage' and showed 3 shell pumps with "out of service" on the 95 and diesel but nothing on the V Power.
I also went and filled up yesterday and the local Shell had no 95, no diesel but still had only V Power unleaded and V Power diesel. Also, no queue!! Brilliant.
Oh, one other thing that made me laugh was a few weeks ago during the grangemouth strike the same thing happened. I was filling up with V Power and this kid in a fiesta ran over and asked "Where's the nearest petrol station". I rolled my eyes a bit and asked what the problem was, he said "They've got no unleaded here!!", so I pointed out that if he didn't mind paying a few pence more he could fill up with V Power here and now. Suddenly he turned a bit sheepsih "oh yea", he said "didn't think of that...". Good one. Hahahahahhahaa.

Just so you know, octane booster is pretty useless unless the ECU adapts. My ECU wouldn't adapt but it has been remapped to allow for 97ron (although it likes 99ron) and it runs like a pig with anything lower and there is no change if it's run on higher octane so it's pretty pointless really.
Did anybody see the 5th gear test when they used octane booster?

not all octane boosters are created equal , get one that works and provided your ecu can adapt it should release more power , on my car that is mapped on V power and doesnt adjust the timing it still reduces detonation , i always keep a bottle in the car in case i have to fill with normal super unleaded liner33 said:

it might be a little too far to travel, but the Shell on the A5 just south of Betws-y-coed had no petrol issues and my car seemed to love their V-Power (or maybe just the roads).
All the local Shell's to me had run out on saturday, other than one in wokingham that had only V-Power left and they thought that'd run out by Sunday at the latest. I hope one of them has fuel again by tomorrow as I'll need some.

As usual dribble, please check your 'facts'. So WHO told you it was bad ? I am sure the product Manager would like to hear ...http://www.greenergy.com/tesco_99_octane/product_b...
and
Cleaner & greener
An enhanced additive package;
To remove existing deposits and help the engine to run more smoothly, Tesco 99 Octane contains an enhanced additive package with twice the protective power of typical 95 octane fuel.
And cleaner inside;
Tesco 99 Octane contains low levels of olefinic compounds which can lead to the creation of deposits - typically less than 5%, compared with up to 18% in standard petrols. So it's less likely than standard petrols to create engine deposits in the first place.
With biofuel too;
Tesco 99 Octane contains bioethanol – a renewable component with 135 octane. So if you are choosing a super fuel, you still do a little bit for the environment.
