I'll be joining your ranks in July - Just got a new job based out of Slough but will be living in Surbiton / Kingston.
Any advice as to roads to avoid and find in this neck of the woods? Is there a regular meet? (I think VW is fairly close to here isn't it?) Anyone else in Surbiton or Kingston area?
Cheers
Phil

I'm just the other side of the A3 from you in Epsom.
Biggest single piece of advice would be to work out a route from home to work that goes nowhere near the M25 (other than when you cross over it) as you really, really don't want to actually drive on it in rush hour. Down the A3 and up the M25 to the M4 might look like a good plan. It's not.
Hello!
I work in Surbiton but commute from Sandhurst (30miles), on a good day it takes me 45 mins, but usually it's more 50-55. I used to live in Hayes and even though that was half the distance it used to take me just as long. The M3 inside the M25 is great, hardly any traffice so whether you use that route and on to the M25, then come off at which ever junction is best. I can image that J15(M4) will be busy so it might be best to come off at 12, 13 or 14 if you can then make your way cross-country.
If you want to avoid the motorways, you could take the A312 and then around Heathrow and onto the Bath Road (A4) to Slough.
Going through the suburbs is never going to be a quick drive though.
