A few years back, when we used to live in Burghfield Common, we enjoyed eating at the Old Boot Inn in Stanford Dingley with the quality of the food being excellent.

I have a colleague visiting from Germany soon and was considering the Old Boot as a good venue for a meal so was wondering whether anyone has recent experience of the food there and can tell me whether it's still as good as it used to be?

Thanks, in anticipation!

yes Still a great pub and restaurant. You'll need to book for a weekend table though or you'll be stuck in the bar (if you can get a table) with the yocals, and you can feel a bit hemmed in!

A bit more expensive but for the absolute best food in that area'ish you could also try the Royal Oak in Yattendon... http://www.royaloakyattendon.com/

Thanks for the confirmation John. It'll be a Monday night so hopefully fairly quiet.

Thanks also for the recommendation for the Royal Oak. When we used to live in the area before we had kids we had the time and disposable income to get to know quite a few of the good eating pubs but I'm out of touch with them now so it's always useful to have some tip-offs!

Richard

as John said, book a table.

You'll probably also bump into Price Harry's girlfriend's mother !!

My better half is awaiting a call from you to let you know just how good it is.

I haven't been to the Old Boot since I was at school in Theale 10 years ago! I'm glad the OP posted this as I'll have to give it a try again.

The Bladebone is still very good too.

I have sought advice as suggested and now feel reassured as to the current quality of the premises. yes

You can also pass on the message that they are open on a Monday so that's one other potential hurdle crossed! smile
