There are lots of ways of employing a cleaner. Some work for a firm that you pay. You are not responsible for their holiday pay etc as you are not their employer. Others work for you directly - through an agency. That is crap as you pay the agency AND the cleaner and are responsible for their holiday pay - as it's "official". The best option is to employ someone reliable through word-of-mouth. Do a deal with them such that you only pay for what you use and pay cash - it's up to them to report their earnings at that point.
We last had a cleaner at £7 an hour. We had to pay holiday pay (so when she was off for two weeks we paid her £42 as well as the £21 for the week she was doing). We also paid the damn agency something like £40 a month too. Never again - bad value. I'd rather pay someone £10 to £12 to maybe £15 an hour for the hours they work for me and have no other commitments.
"All up" - sounds slightly pricey - if there are fees too (hols,agency) that's a rip IMO.
We get little ads through our door the whole while. Do you? Why not try one of them.
Or ask your neighbours. We gave up using a cleaner (we used one for years) and have started doing it ourselves. The house is occasionally cleaner than ever before - but a lot of time could use a vacuum and a dust!
