Solus bodyshop, anyone used them?
Discussion
A guy has just driven into the rear bumper of my RB5 while the car was left in a car park.
The driver of the other car has accepted he did it so I'm claiming through his insurance and have been told to use Solus in Basingstoke.
Obviously the car is my P&J and it's well looked after so I'm not keen to send it to any old body shop so if anyone has any options on Solus I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Is this the season of stupidity, I am hearing of so many people getting "tapped in carparks" including me in the petrol station the other day!
As to the Garage you mention don't know them, but, as long as it has no and I say NO association with the Nationwide Crash Reapir Chain you should be ok subject to the usual caveats.

They're owned by NU.
The branch in Guildford did some work on my co. car which was pretty good, but they're a very in-out type operation, and I felt part of a process, rather than a customer. (i.e. you can see the status of the repair of your car on-line, etc). Good if you want a pain-free, quick repair, not so good if you want to be involved.
TBH if it was my pride and joy I wouldn't use them, (I'd prefer to be able to talk to the guys actually doing the work, etc), but for my co. car I was happy enough as it was quick and easy...
You can demand to use a body-shop of your own choosing though, so I'd use that right if you know a good one..
Good luck.

Cheers for the advice. I'll call NU in the morning to see where I stand regarding using a body shop of my choice.
Still can't believe someone hit my car and did not even know, the standard of some peoples driving is just a joke. Good job I got back to my car before they left the car park!

About 6 years ago the Hayes branch did some work on the rear quarter and bumper of my 928. Absolutely horrible job, orange peel and overspray everywhere. I had them redo it, and even then the paint fell off the bumper about 2 years later - and I paid them extra to strip the bumper completely first.
