Find below further details of the intended medal presentation and march by the House Hold Calvalry. You should note that the march is not taking place in central Windsor.
The parade is scheduled to leave Combermere Barracks, St Leonards Road, at 11.30am and the route will be left along Alma Road to the roundabout, continuing on Alma Road to the junction with Claremont Road and then right towards The Holy Trinity Church
There will be no parking along the parade route between 7.30am and 1pm and local residents with on-street parking permits will be able to park free in the nearby Alma Road car park (permits must be displayed).
There will be minimal road closures in the area between 11.20am and 12 noon and roads will be open as soon as possible after the parade has passed by.
HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY REGIMENT AFGHANISTAN MEDAL CEREMONY, MARCH THROUGH WINDSOR AND
THANKSGIVING SERVICE
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is to present operational medals to the officers and soldiers of the Household Cavalry Regiment at Combermere Barracks in Windsor on Monday 5 May 2008. Among those who will receive their medal for active service will be HRH Prince Harry/Lt Wales.
Following the ceremony, the Household Cavalry Regiment, led by the Band of the Blues and Royals, will march through the streets of Windsor to the Army Garrison Church. There they will hold a service of Thanksgiving, and Remembrance for those who fell during the unit’s recent six month tour of duty in Afghanistan.
