A friendly local BiB has just warned me that an 04 reg Ice Blue Tuscan was stolen from Sandhurst yesterday.

The thieving bds used the same MO as that used to steal mine and Dave500s Porsche.

We are getting a severe beating in this neck of the woods from the car thieves - so please be careful with your keys and your cars.

Condolences to the owner, fingers crossed for a speedy reunion with your P&J.

ths is getting to be an all too familiar story!

Shame, maybe they can use some of the £430 tax disc money to assist car crime

Unfortunately the TRacker only buys you a little time until they find it and rip it out......

Most of these cars are stolen for a joy ride and then abandoned. Highly unlikely they would try to find it.

What is the MO they are using?

I had someone taking photos around the garage where my 996 is kept at midnight Saturday.

I am in Reading too, is it worth reporting? My neighbour who spotted them has no decent description unfortunately as it was too dark.

Could you e-mail me some info?

Hook type implement through letter box and hooking out the keys.

ETA call TVP on 0845 8 505 505 to report any sus activity. Pass your reg too so that an info marker can be placed on it.

Sorry, what is an info marker? Does it mean the police will stop it and check if they see it?

I have a Navtrak proactive tracker in it but not subscribed at the moment, perhaps worth getting this back on?

No it isn't and we've been careful about this, but my wife doesn't share the importance of putting the keys away and leaves them around sometimes.

Info markers are what go onto ANPR systems/PNC checks so if the car is seen out and about (esp. at night) and the reg checked, if has a marker that persons seen taking an interest in car will give good reason to stop it.

Sounds like a good plan then.

This really isn't very funny, hopefully they're not smart enough to find my house / don't want to take a boring yellow hatchback for a spin.

I might actually get a tracker fitted when I get the other stuff done at this rate.

rofl you have no idea how appropriate that is, this morning outside my house there was a digger one side, a tarmac layer jobbie the other, I think they wanted me to hurry up and bugger off too!

Just to put a bit of perspective on this.. Its not likely they are nicking the cars to joy ride.. they can do that in a 20 year old excort and not be noticed and they will get away with it..

Porsche TVR etc are all nicked iether to order, or to be broken down into spares.

Taking your keys to bed or locking them up is IMHO a bad idea if they want your car that bad then they will break in and threaten you/your wife/kids etc with knife/gun for you to hand over the keys. Personally i would much rather they take the car with no agro and leave the family out of it! Its a car at the end of the day and not worth going through the emotional stress.

On the word of a tracker it is only useful in the first hour of the car being stolen, after that it will either be ripped out of the car or in a container where there is no reception. But a common way thieves check if a tracker is on the car is that they dump it in a public place for a few hours and watch locally if the car generates any interest from the BiB if so they just walk away and target someone else.
