...there suddenly appears to be lots of big holes appearing around the Ascot area, WTF are they for?

There's one next to Lavander Park Golf Course and another further up the road there.

If you mean the trenches that appear to be all over Ascot / Bracknell / towards crowthorne I think it's something to do with the thousands of huge blue pipes that are being stored at the TRL then moved again. I assume by the size it has to be a replacement sewer or something.

That would make perfect sense, however it doesn't quite add up, as I drive past the pipes they appear to be laying on the way to maidenhead / bray every morning and the ones going to ascot as way over in the wrong direction I'm sure that hasn't stopped them in the past though!

They've chopped down a big chunk of the Swinley forest to lay some along the Swinley road. I wondered what they were for.

They are water supply pipes for all the new housing estates that will joing Wokingham, Binfield, Bracknell, Crowthorne and Ascot into one big urban conurbation.

I think they are laying a new main from Crowthorne Res and Surrey hill in the middle of the swinley forest to god knows where.
