Hi Thames Valley PHers,

Just wondering if there are any of you who own/work for a local business who might fancy a bit of advertising?

At the end of August me and three mates are taking part in 2008 Student Brakeaway (formally known as Student Gumball Rally), aka a 6 day cruise across Europe to Croatia via 6 countries (and Stelvio Pass! thumbupdriving ) over 1500 miles! I'm buying our team car in the next month to start prepping it and it will also be my daily hack up until we leave. Obviously our expenses are looking to be quite high for the trip and being a bunch of poor students we'd like to make some money toward it any way we can and selling sticker space is one thumbup

The car will be fully liveried up in true continental hooning tradition and we still have plenty of space left for any local sponsors in exchange for a few bob thumbup Anybody who takes us up on it will get a solid 5-6 months of exposure on the car locally around the Gatwick/Horsham/Guildford area while I am prepping/daily-hacking it, plus the week on the car cross-country on the trip with all the web/print/possible TV media attention that will generate, plus the return trip back to the UK, and then possibly even more if I get so attached I decide to keep the car rather than flog it! We're also intending to do a photoshoot or two to go in the local rags and the student magazines of my two mate's Unis (Southampton and Winchester) for yet more attention!

The best way we can see to operate it is on a more money/bigger sticker space principle which seems to be fair for everybody.
And I'm intending to slap a huge bonnet-covering PH smilie sticker on the front to show my allegiance thumbup so the car is sure to be a real eyecatcher.

Anyhow, I'll stop rambling now - if anybody is interested, feel free to reply here or PM/email me if you'd feel more comfortable and we can discuss further.

Hope something can be sorted out thumbup I'd be much happier with locals/PHers' businesses plastered all over the car than selling my soul to the megacorporations biggrin

I don't mean this to sound harsh, but being honest, you basically want some businesses to pay for you and your mates to go have one of the best holidays of your life?

Good luck anyway and hope you have a great time. beer

Not far off the painful truth - but it's not like they aren't getting something out of it, there will be a ton of publicity this year.
Plus all the teams in previous years have had plenty of sponsorship, as have friends I know who have done similar events, so it can't be that bizarre surely?

Why not be up front about it, work out how much you need to get the car round, nominate a local charity you know the local kiddy cancer ward or Childs Terminal care trust, then sell space on the vehicle at so much per area deals on whole panels and splis the funds 50/50?

Just a hint from a marketing person..... remember sex sells dead kids and animals fund raise!!! silly
