She's selling the Fabia VRS and has been very pleased with it. So we're now looking for a replacement - budget upto £15k. Needs to have a certain degree of practicality and needs to be new, so some kind of sporty hatch might fit the bill. - So far we are considering a Corsa VXR or Clio 197. Have we missed any? driving Suggestions?

2004 (54) 40,000 miles, 1 lady owner, full service records, very nice unmolested condition, Red with pistonheads sticker  . Usual VRS features. Asking £7K but I might buy it and use it myself as it's nice and economical.

Might you be interested?

They've all been far to sensible so far - a Ferrari 348tb makes so much sense it'd be rude not to by one hehe

Why does it have to be new?
And is it £15k retail or £15k after negotiating discount?

She likes a new car every three years or so, and the £15k is after negotiations.

Out of that lot I think I'd be getting the Volvo C30 and the biggest engine you can haggle for 15k.

If you're not worried about depreciation i'd agree with Ben. If you are, i'd go for a Cooper S.
Both very nice cars though, and much better (over three years) than the french stuff...

yes Absolutely loved it! Just felt so sorted and the engine was to die for - probably one of the best there is at the moment; sub V10 obviously!

However, I'm looking for something more depreciation proof, so will be looking at something a little older thats lost the big chunks already. If I was planning to keep it for 18 months plus then a 130iM would be on the drive right now...

I think the most sensible solution is to keep the M5, afterall you will still need a fast "family" car!
