As my car has decided to eat my current set of tyres from the outside in it has become plainly apparent that the tracking/geometry is out.

The last bunch I took it to in staines were a complete bunch of clowns so I want to take it to someone who knows what they are doing and come as highly recommended.

Can anybody let me know of any places? I know both Dave and Alex told me of a few places yesterday but I was far too tired to be taking it all in.

The general consencus was this place:- http://www.centergravity.co.uk/index.php?categoryi...

I haven't been there yet but I'm booked in for the end of the month.

Nobby, that does make for interesting reading. My only issue would be the amount of potholes around London...I wouldn't fancy driving all the way to warickshire and back (about 220 mile round trip) only to have it knocked out of alignment after hitting a pothole, especially if he is expensive.

Although if I garage the car and use it only for weekend fun then it may be possible I would use him.

Dave, can you send me some more details on the place near you? I like the sounds of the food too! lick

www.autops.co.uk they've done a pretty good job with my car and Dave's S3 as well I believe. Nathan also used to work on older Audis from memeory at either Audi or AmD so he's probably going to have more knowledge specific to the car than most.

And you'd have to go to Atherstone hehe

If you change your mind though Rob, it's 10 miles up the road from me. If you want me to show the local sight like...

Wheels in motion is the place you want to go to. Came highly recommended from the MX-5 lot. Tony certainly sorted out my car very well.

Robotron if you are near Heathrow then you might want to try Hounslow Tyres which is based on a side road just of Staines Road.

They do a 4 wheel laser alignment while you wait for £35.

They aren't exactly Audi specialists or anything but being a tyre based place do seem competent enough. I used them when we bought the Astra as the alignment was out and it has been fine since then.

There are a lot of workers there who aren't proper mechanics but just carry out the instructions. But there are a couple of guys there who know seem reasonably knowledgable, so if you wanted anything more then the settings just being in the tolerance zones then they may be able to help.

In short I found them very cheap and efficient, although for a more specialist car you may want to use somewhere more performance orientated.

I haven't done enough miles on them to know if they have fully sorted them yet, but I got excellent service from Farnham tyres recently, with the advantage that their website gave me pretty good prices on the tyres too.

The car drives much better, and MPG has gone up, So I assume its been sorted.

How much would an Audi specialist charge? IME you could well end up taking it back to a specialist for corrective work anyway after "saving" some money with the unskilled spanner monkeys (has happened to me twice now, never again!).

Tyre places and general garages are fine for very popular mainstream cars.

Unfortunately mine is neither mainstream or popular, to the point where Audi themselves have actually called me a liar when I said I had an S2. scratchchin
