Car broken into...
Discussion
Having a bad day as it is and just went to get something out of my car and found that my car had been broken into and Sat Nav robbed from the glove box. Bastards have screw drivered the lock which causes the car to open and disable the alarm.! Also opens the windows for some strange reason... (MK-4 Golf)
Anyways just a heads up really, I live in Blackwater (near Camberley) so there are some thieves about who are happy to go out robbing in the rain...
Rant over.

It either happened last night when I was asleep or this morning when I was at work. Loads a cameras here so doubt it happened here but they are checking the cameras anyways...
(Was running late for work so wasn't paying much attention this morning)
Never saw me put it in the glovebox as it has been in there for days. Only damage is the lock barrel...

I guess that I am quiet lucky that they bust the lock rather than smash the window or bent all the door up. Got a quote from Martins of about £150 to get it fixed and keep original keys.
Seems to be quiet alot of crime in the area at the moment, heard of a few similar stories in the last few weeks. Maybe should have taken note and brought the sat nav in the house with me...Doh.
The only slight up side was the Nav was on the blink so good luck with it you theiving fuk.!
Thanks for all your responses.!

My The wife had our Mk IV Golf broken into for the Sat Nav mount (the unit was at home)
This in the scummy Sports Centre in Bracknell.
No mucking about, hammer through window job, cost a fortune to replace glass and re do electric window mechanism. All on insurance of course.
So the moral is remove the Sat Nav, AND the mount, and clean the inside glass as well to remove the ring mark.

A mate of mine had his X3 done in Wokingham outside his house in October Satnav & laptop stolen the first time, they came back for the car 4 weeks later, no one heard anything it seemed to just vanish!
Police said that they think they use some sort of Blue tooth scanner to detect if a Satnav is in the car. Must admit that I am a bit skeptical about this if the device is turned off, but this would explain how they seem to be accurate in selecting which car to target.
Regards,
Jon
