Gearbox specialist?

5 year old 206 is having some gearbox problems - FiL seems to think it isn't major and needs to be checked somewhere reliable.

Anyone recommend someone in Reading/Thames Valley who can take a look without taking the piss (like a Peugeot dealership would judging by past experiences!)
