Morning guys/girls!

Had a day off yesterday so went for a drive to the coast. Found an awesome road through the Meon Valley which goes from Alton to Fareham. I knew it was going to be special when turning into the road there are huge yellow signs saying "High Risk Road Ahead"

15/20 Miles of pure right foot action, sweeping bends, crests, dips, anything a performance car driver could ask for, NO POLICE (at that time) and pleanty of superbikers up for some hoonage! thumbup

If anyone fancies a drive, let me know because this road is something special!

Cheers!

Paul - I used to live in Alton and drove that road twice a day... As you described; an awesome road if you can avoid trafic and nutters on superbikes!

Watch out for a talivan in Lower Faringdon (justified 40 limit just south of Alton) - it doesn't appear on the pocketgps tomtom map I have!

Carry on north on the B3349 from Alton to Reading, or take the road to Steep (yellow road on map link)

And lots of bits of motorbike too. Wasn't that the most dangerous road for bikers in England for a few months? Guy I used to work with lost his leg on the A339 - he was on the white line tanking it, as was a bike coming the other way on the bend... Other guy died.

I used to work in Basingstoke I think I remember that one.

A339 is a challenging road. It's had lots of surface treatment, ruble strips, signage added over the last couple of years. A few years back bikers were dying on a near weekly basis.

A339 between Basingstoke and Alton is good.

B3046 from Basigstoke to Winchester is a cracker too. Me and some friends had an early morning run down there a few weeks ago driving

I can feel another blat coming on Paul

As a one armed ex biker I still reckon the road between Ramsey and Douglas on the IOM is the best (worst)....

yes A gorgeous road sadly ruined by lowered speed limits, too much traffic, and regular attention from Taliban and Plod.

Did manage to have a cracking clear run down there one lunchtime a couple of years ago with dern in the passenger seat, though. That was a bit special.

Might be, will decide nearer the time. Bowling on the 24th (you coming?) and not sure of plans for the 25th yet...

Looks to be some decent cars though and a good route!

I've put my name down, I could'nt resist! Let me know if you decide to come. Route does look good and a nice early start time to take full advantage

Think I'll give bowling a miss - I prefer driving!

Heard on the Hants traffic news this afternoon - major incident closed the A339 for up to 3 hours. Involved 2 motorbikes and a car...

As my Dad used to say to me - "I know you can get round that bend, but can the guy coming the other way?"

Indeed - i was down there today and half way from Alton to Basingstoke i got to a police biker who was closing the road (A339) and turning people around. There were police cars and a couple of recovery trucks arriving as i left.

Hope everyone involved is okay.

Yes! This road is the ground of the Hants TVR lot, haha . I sometimes drive it in my 6n and I love it too! Even if a lot slower, some great overtaking spots too hehe

I came across this as well today..

Was really busy out this afternoon, every route I tried ended up being stuck behind traffic, with double white lines stopping me 'making progress'..
