Anyone know a way for "finding" someone with just a name to go by? A friend of mine (seriously) wants to get in touch with a 'lady friend' he met about 5 years ago.

Any pointers will be passed on to him! He has already tried Google, Friends re-ignited (not a Simon Weston support group might I ad) and the likes of..

Other than hiring a private detective (which to be fair I think is abit over-kill) he really doesn't know where to look next. And if you are wondering why he is desperate to find her; he wants to marry this girl even if it's the last thing he does (which I find ironic, because once you are married, you never do anything else again anyway!) He can't be told so, if anyone can help in his vain attempt to live happily ever after, that'd be great!

Thanks in advance people!

Jesus, thought I'd crossed a legal barrier for a second! Thought I was going to do abit of time! judge

The missus thinks its 'sweet' for him to be trying so hard, I can understand what he's doing because he's abit.. well, facially challenged so he doesn't get many chances poor bloke (ugly ccensoredt)! Only, messing, he's a nice enough bloke and I just thought it would be woth a shot to see if anyone could suggest anything!

Find things out you never wanted to know with that. If she has a married name now he won't find her that way. Which would be a good thing, I expect.

When I was dating my now ex-husband, we had a mutual friend (I'll call him S) who I always thought of as a big cuddly teddy bear. A couple of years ago, I was in a pub and I recognised S (fifteen years on from the last time I'd seen him). I went over, said hello, made some small talk about what we're up to now and went back to my friends for the rest of the evening.

The next day, I got an email from S telling me that he'd always been in love with me and if he'd known that me and my ex husband would split up, he'd have waited for me, but he was now married. According to his email, he was willing to leave his wife and two children for me, and all I had to do was say the word.

Although it was very flattering to know that someone felt that way about me, and apart from being very happy in my relationship with a totally scrumptious bloke (and S was a big fat bloater with loads of tattoos and bad hair) I can't help thinking this is the behaviour of someone who is a complete nutter and if I do happen to be in the same room as him again, I will leave, very quickly before he gets a chance to see me.

Tell your friend to think very carefully before he approaches this woman.

Well hang on it might not be that wierd (we don't know what went on), now the fact I'd love to say hi to one of the BP Ultimate ladies from LeMans last year doesn't mean I'm a total fruit cake does it... boxedin

It might come across as being a little bit mental if you start emailing them.

How about an ad in a national paper.

Could end up being expensive if he does'nt get a response for ages (or ever!)

It might work if you're extremely good looking and seriously loaded, but otherwise, um no.

contrary to what we might say, women are shallow

How about having a Thames Valley Pistonheads singles night, he might find somebody else he likes there.

How about trying the electoral roles, if he knew where she used to live you can sometimes track them down that way.
