I'm looking to move to the Aylesbury area (probably a bit south west of there, but I'll have to see what kind of houses I can get where), but I have no idea about the area - which are good, and which are bad etc.

Can anybody on here help?

Cheers,

Dave

I live in Aylesbury.

Depends what you are looking for to be honest and what you are prepared to pay.

Im assuming you mean low crime areas.

From what i know in Aylesbury itself Fairford Leys is a nice area (where i live) House prices are not too bad and they are just finishing the last few buildings in the next few month. This is on the outskirts but good transport links and 10 mins into town center

Watermead is a nice area but a bit pricey, (an estate with a nice feel to it one road in passing a bloody big lake and nice surroundings)again on the outskirts with good transport

Advoid Southcourt like the plague.

Quarranden is also improving but not really my thing to be honest.

Bedgrove is improving was a dump at one point but the police have improved the area a fair bit and house prices are not too bad. Bit closer into town

Lavender Grange estate is ok which is also improving closer to town center.

If you look into the little towns on the outskirts then the house prices go up a fair whack.

Alot of BiB live on certain estates which will give an indication as to the area.

If you need any further info then feel free to ask as im not sure what you are looking for specifically and at what house size / price range you are looking at.

I live in Wendover when i'm not in Bournemouth at uni.

Very nice area, with good schools and a train link in London. Highly recommended but expensive.

Oh yeah and I agree with all that Slider said in regards to Aylesbury!

What time of place are you looking for? Are you looking to rent or buy? price range?

I live just outside of Aylesbury. Rarely do i go in Aylesbury.. as mentioned above, typical of many towns, has a large share of scummy areas.. Leave Aylesbury, prices change a lot. South = + North = less money. And strangely if you get on the Oxford side, it seems cheaper that way.

Wendover/Aston Clinton are your choices - and others too, hence price hikes.

the other thing to thing about is wher eyou are working. Traffic can be congested at the best of times. Two train lines - Aylesbury - Marylebone with stops at Stoke Mandeville (village, and not hospital) and Wendover and the other nearest station is Tring on the line to Euston which is favoured by many is Aston Clinton.

Or go West and there is the train line from Haddenham also going down to Marylebone.

I am working near Aylesbury and have to agree about the traffic.

Going from MK and through aylesbury to work was taking me 1.5 hours. Now i avoid aylesbury and it takes me about 45 mins. Its grid lock city at rush hour.

Yep! The roads out by Thame are very nice! I expect that the Thames Valley Meet at Easter will take in some of them.

I would agree with the above but I am from Bedgrove and always thought it was one of the better estates in the area. It has had a lot of kids hanging around but who doesnt. The major draw of Bedgrove is the two schools. They are of the highest standard so the catchment area commands good prices and the houses sell very quickly. (Cant believe I am on a forum defending where I used to live, LOL)
