Looking for info on Leatherhead, specifically the poplar road/avenue area, with a view to moving.
Any opinions from our mighty PH readership?

Cheers

You might get a bit more info if you post on the Thames Valley & Surrey forum.

For my sins I lived for a period in north Leatherhead, the shitest part of a shite place, rendered notable only by a great curry house (Lal Quilla). While in general I agree with a fellow Cobhamer Tonker that Leatherhead is best avoided, there are some nicer parts to the south, well away from the bland, desolate town centre, i.e. up towards Bookham.

I lived in Leatherhead until about 3 years ago. I also commuted from there into the City and although it's a stopping service (generally - there is a quickish train to London bridge), it wasn't a problem really and trains were reasonably frequent.

Not much going on in Leatherhead though - pubs are nice enough but generally pretty empty. Chav element was fairly low when I was there which was nice.

I wouldn't say Ashtead differs much. Cobham is nicer but much more expensive.

Yup, Fetcham and Bookham are both nice - a lot of my mates (who are *SERIOUS* Pistonheads) live there

Fetcham Tandoori is great, good food, fetcham is nice as it has no railway station, so commuters tend to not live here. As in any area your budget dictates which 'Nice ' roads you choose to live.
