My Google photos popped up with some old photos from Surrey Run VIII. This prompted me to dig out the VI & VII threads too and relive the memories smile

I've changed car and name a few times since back then, but remember having a fantastic time on these runs. Sadly the pictures and videos mentioned in these threads have disappeared, I really wish I had followed someone's advice and uploaded my video to that new-fangled YouTube thing rather than PHTV.

If Surrey Runs are still a thing, I hope the participants have as much fun as we did back then - I'm guessing that nowadays such things have to be organised far more covertly.

Just for fun - some photos of the runs:

Surrey Run 6:

- DB9 with a bullet cam

- I remember following these at one point, lovely sounds

Surrey Run 7:

- half way stop at Goodwood

- finished at Chichester Marina

Surrey Run 8:

Does anyone recognise themselves/their old cars?

Great smile What car were you driving then, or were you a passenger?

Have some pictures from some of them too, less driving involved for them though. I also remember convoys down from Guildford Cathedral to various Goodwood Breakfast Clubs before they started getting insanely busy.

If you want a decent paced run you need a small number of cars. The more you get the harder it is to stay together and slower drivers just get lost in the end.

wavey Organiser of some of the early Surrey Runs here (starting in 2002 yikes), and participant in those that others put together. smile

I appear to have photos from runs 1, 3, 4 & 5 together with the DVDs for a couple of them.

My GT3 appears in a couple of your pictures.

You chose great routes, a fine way to spend a few hours on early Sunday mornings smile Would you be and to upload the DVDs to YouTube?

The last one I did (not a surrey run) involved some speeds that I really didn't feel comfortable with, so figured it was time for me to call it a day.

I went on something similar back in July 2014 that started from the Tesco car park at the Meadows in Camberley on a Saturday night but was mostly on good roads in Hampshire.

I think there were about 10 cars but due to a bad choice at a set of lights I ended 2 from the back, and although 2 in front of me went through a set of lights on red I didn't feel that lucky, and we ended up losing the group.

Managed to meet up with them further on but I was having to get well into 3 figure speeds (kmh obviously) on single-carriageway unlit roads just to keep up and on the way back near Basingstoke I just bailed out and came home. It probably didn't help that it was the quickest car I had owned and I had only had it a month at the time!

I decided I wouldn't repeat that, but I don't think I saw anything about another one.

I remember one of the runs from Guildford an Enzo arriving - I don't think he joined the convoy down to Goodwood but still an impressive sight to see.

I think I may have been on this, it did indeed get a little hairy and I was paranoid some nocturnal beast would leap out at me from the hedge row and I'm not talking about the local talent from the tescos car park..

Some pics from the start of that run..

That's the one. thumbup

When I was catching up with the group a hare did actually leap out in front of me, but luckily I managed to miss it!

I took a photo before the start too.

It's very hard to get a group of cars/drivers together which can run at the same speed. You just need to find similarly paced drivers really. Very few will be capable of running at the quickest pace and most are happy to run at a brisk pace which suits many. No need to call it a day yet...

Nice pics... the grey Impreza is me. Hammering along in the dark on unfamiliar roads made it a little bit too exciting for me. I've never hooned in the dark since!

There seems to be a few car meets on but no one arranges the drives anymore. I'd be up for doing them again, not at night and not silly speeds but if you jeep it to a reasonable sized group, there's some good roads to explore. If you start at a reasonable time and miss the traffic, end up somewhere for breakfast, what's not to like.

Yes, I'd be up for that too.
