Does anyone know of an economical way to store 4-5 cars around Reading? I have a council garage, which is useful for storing 1 extra car, though it's not long enough so really that limits what can go in it.

There doesn't seem to be many options for bigger spaces - industrial units seem like they are much too big and expensive. Plus you are paying business rates and potentially for a location in or near the town where as something in the middle of nowhere or an inconvenient place would be fine for this task.

I guess it's probably worth approaching local farmers to see if any have any unused barns...

There's a place over near Wokingham called Nine Mile Ride Industry which has a variety of size units with lights/power etc from £65 p/w upwards which might be worth checking out. I'm also looking for a space in the Reading area so I can work on a campervan project - not much in this neck of the woods!

I've seen some office car park spaces being advertised on yourparkingspace, earlier when offices were mostly shut, eg in Arlington business park.
Otherwise your best bet would indeed be farmers.
Car storage/parking options in Reading are quite limited if you don't have your own multicar garage or a large drive. There are of course storage places, mostly out of town, but they are either priced high or have questionable security

I use a great facility just outside Reading called Speedbird Automotive. It was newly opened this year and is of new construction with top notch security. Prices are very competitive based on my earlier research.

Thanks - not on the ideal side of Reading for me but I’ve dropped them an email. Seems like there is some demand for storage in Reading - wonder how many of us would use a space just to the Oxford side of Reading?

I have used Richard Thorne, the Morgan people, for storage in the past

These guys are in Winnersh. Great facility if you want care as well as storage. Don't be put off by all the supercar stuff - they look after more mundane metal too.

Can't help much with a unit, but it's usually cheaper as you get further away from London. For a space or possiblly two I could maybe help nr Newbury, or for commercial & lots of spaces & considerably cheaper than Dunt maybe try Lakes Autosnug also nr Newbury http://lakeautosnug.co.uk/

Did you ever find anywhere suitable OP?

As a caravan owner I know from personal experience that there is a massive demand for caravan/motorhome/car storage in the Reading area, if there was a secure covered unit that could offer this for reasonable money I'm sure they would be very popular.

Absolutely.....I'm considering a little 'fun' something or other to enjoy next year, but I wouldn't necessarily want it on the driveway 24/7, and hence a local covered space would be great. I'm based over towards Wokingham, but I would expect something like Dun Barn to be inhibitively expensive....so do let us know if you find something cost effective.

No, sadly not found anything yet though there does seem to be plenty of demand. Maybe there is a case for finding a remote industrial barn or something and pricing it out
