I have been looking for quite a while now to get out of my rented not upgraded since the 70s rabbit hutch of a flat and move further out of London.

I did manage before and had a lovely big 2 bed detached cottage near Dorking for the same money as my one bed in Wandsworth.

I should never have moved away.

Seems Surrey Hills area and nearby are now being snapped up as soon as they come on the market and my budget will only get me a flat even out there.

I'm sick of flats. I want a 2 bed semi with garden and garage and they seem to pop up in Godalming for between £1200 and £1400 a month.

I have a vague recollection that it's a nice place so what's the catch?

Cheers.

I think everything in the South East is getting snapped up at the moment!

I don't know Godalming that well as it's always been out of my budget, but the odd few times I have been there I've always thought it had a nice feel to it.

Good luck finding something. thumbup

Godalming is perfectly nice. The high street is a little light on good shops, but Guildford isn't far away. Many nice pubs and lovely countryside around it. A decent Waitrose as well, if that's your thing.

The one time I ever went to Godalming - and my bar was set at Farnham (where I lived) and Haslemere (which is gorgeous), I took a wrong turning going into town and found myself in Farncombe. Not nice. Suffice to say that, when I arrived in Godalming town centre I was underwhelmed.

See if you can stretch to Haslemere, Hindhead, Chiddingfold etc.
