I've got about an hour, where to head?
Discussion
I'll have about an hour this afternoon to go for a quick fun drive in the Corvette (so tiny tight twistie roads probably not a good idea) but not sure where to go. Since moving to this area we've basically been in lockdown, so I haven't been able to discover the best places to head for a quick blast.
I'm in the KT6 postcode, so heading out on the A3 south is my best bet, but other than just sitting on the A3 and A31 (my usual route to my Dad's) I'm not really sure what would be fun to do.
Any ideas?

I'm not far from you. If you see a moron waving at you in a bland hatchback, that's me!
I'd head down to Dorking, along the A25 to Newlands Corner, up to East Clandon then East Horsley, back to Leatherhead and home via Esher. Avoid the A243 in the afternoon. It can be a nightmare around Chessington WoA mid-afternoon. Or once of the A246, snake your way up to the A3 at any point if you want to avoid Chessington.

Nice one, I'll have a look at the old Google Maps and see how that's looking! Once everything is back to normal, you could even stop at a pub for lunch.

Legend, that's perfect, thank you! Once everything is back to normal, you could even stop at a pub for lunch.

Shame you can't get Google to read it to you like pace notes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TTiepVHZnY
I prefer the smaller roads so I'd take A3 to get outside M25 as quick as possible then take first turning off and use the backroads, rather than spending time on A243 and A24 which are fairly dull and full of speed cameras. Lots of nice lanes between the Horsleys, Shere, Shamley Green etc. The A25 itself can be quite pleasant to link things together, if needed.

I've got a feeling I've done the 'first left turn after M25' option once before, in the Evo, and it was indeed good fun. Not sure the wide-ass Corvette would have as much fun though. But plenty of time this year to find out, even if not today. MrBen1 said:

Indeed - just thinking that the OPer has 1 hour to kill.Hoofy said:

You can create an itinerary file from any route then load it into a TomTom or Garmin device, or an app like Scenic. Works well as a visual co-pilot.Not achievable in an hour, alas, but when you have a bit longer, down the A3 (enjoy the acoustics of the Hindhead tunnel) to the exit for the A272 (think it's signposted Stroud), head up past West Meon towards Winchester, then either back on the A31 (though it's all roadworks now), or left and left again and back to the A3 via Morestead and any number of pleasant roads.
There are a fair few 30 bits, but a lot of quicker roads too, and some lovely scenery on the way.

My old man is just outside Petersfield, so now we're talking the sort of roads I do know pretty well when I'm staying down his way. There are a fair few 30 bits, but a lot of quicker roads too, and some lovely scenery on the way.
Good to know about the roadworks though, that's disappointing. Do they look short term or will they be ruining our summer?

Ended up doing a condensed version of this. The traffic by Chessington was seriously slow which cut into my time, so got down to Leatherhead, then through Great Bookham then had to cut up back towards the A3. So quite nice and scenic, but nowhere to open the taps until we hit the A3 and floored it briefly a couple of times, just to remind myself what 650bhp feels like! Once everything is back to normal, you could even stop at a pub for lunch.

650bhp? Nice. You'll have to pick me up on the way next time.
