Surrey to Luton airport

M25 J11 to Luton airport. To arrive at airport about 8am on a Tuesday morning.
Any ideas how long? I guess nearly 2 hours?

It was probably about 10 years ago, but I used to go from J12 to Luton fairly often - although usually in the afternoon rush hour.

I'd expect 2 hours to be OK at that time of day, but it is obviously a massive gamble on the M25. I was usually collecting or dropping off somebody who was based in Cannes - she could generally get from Cannes to Luton quicker than I could get from Surrey to Luton......

From 2010 to 2013 I used to go from J16 at M40 to J21 around 7am weekdays and that stretch of M25 used to take about 20mins.

Add 20-25 mins from M25 to Luton Airport, and maybe same time from J11 to J16, and I reckon 1 hr to 1.5 hr if bad.

2 hrs will be plenty of time, but equally not enough if the M25 is closed like it was this morning between J18 and J19 until gone 7.30am..!!

The only time I used Luton airport at that sort of time of day I booked into a local hotel that offered parking the night before, then used a cab to the airport - it was still a close call though!

Since then I've tried to avoid using it.

I regularly travel to Luton airport, M40,M25,M1,on a good day its one hour on a bad day Three hours,you can never be sure.
My flights are always late afternoon so I have most of the day to get there. How ever if I was catching an early morning flight I would travel up the day before and stay in The Premier Inn. There are lots of car parking deals to choose from. Make sure though they are official Luton Airport ones.
