Classic Car Display - Farnborough Town Centre Tomorrow
Discussion
If anybody is interested, Farnborough Lions are putting on their annual classic car display in the Queensmead part of Farnborough shopping area tomorrow. I'm going to be there with my 1996 Caterham 7 Classic SE but there is usually a nice selection of interesting cars on show.
Hopefully, the weather won't be as nasty as they have been predicting.

Damn it!
I saw this, but not intentionally. We had an appointment at our solicitors office on Victoria Road to sign papers and go through a whole load of stuff regarding a house sale/purchase. Then we needed some bits and bobs from the shops. My wife wasn't keen on hanging around, so we walked up and down the Mead and there were some nice cars about.
If I'd known one of them was yours, Eric, then I'd have said hello. Yours was one of the first we saw, I think, coming out of WH Smiths in the shopping centre. I'm presuming it was your '7', next to a shiny red GT6 opposite Mr Simm's sweetshop?
The lovely Nash Metropolitan was my favourite, and I think I spotted a Jowett. I didn't get to see all of it close up, and was quite annoyed with one oik who was quite pushy and impolite trying to get pictures inside some of the cars. And far too many people couldn't read, and were touching cars and letting bags, zips, etc get into contact with the paintwork. I hope the Lions made some money in donations, but if I had a nice car I think I'd be rather reluctant to risk displaying it like that for fear of damage.

That was indeed me. Initially, I thought it was great to be under the canopy outside Princes Mead but it turned out to be the windiest and coldest part of the display area. That alley really generates a venturi effect when the wind is in a certain direction.
The problem with Farnborough is that even though there are plenty of community activities going on all the time, getting the information out into the public domain in advance of the event is very, very difficult. Our local paper is totally rubbish (and I predict that it won't be around much longer). They tend to report events AFTER they are over, which is a fat lot of good to anybody.
There had been a banner attached to the pedestrian railings opposite the Beefeater for about two weeks before the event.
I knew about this even because I had stumbled upon it last year and the year before. They intend to hold it again next year but the centre will be in the middle of the second phase of its reconstruction (at last) and it can't be certain what type of space will be available for a car display in 2020.
