Alloy wheel refurb
Discussion
Hi Geoff, havn't used this company myself, but have heard really good things about them, especially the one for the Guildford area, who made an excellent job of a friends Jaguar wheels. Hope this helps, Jon. www.wickedwheels.co.uk/index.htm

they have a chap that does a REALLY GOOD job at a fair price.

Blimey, is there nothing those chaps in West End can't do?
Top place!
If they can't do it they know someone who can.
It's not what you but WHO you know!!

Sorry - the original "Windlesham guy" was me, and I must admit I've done nothing about my alloy. However I have sorted some tickets for Le Mans in the meantime, cannot wait; suppose it's all a matter of priorities. West End is not too far away either, will sort my wheel when I get back. Geoff

vixpy1 isn't far from you £40 plus VAT seems a fair price.
I am also off to Le Mans Thursday 8.30 Portsmouth - Le Harvre.
Have a good time, my 30th plus year of going
OK, bad news to report I'm afraid.
The guys at West End let me down quite badly. The first thing to say is my car doesn't have a spare wheel, so when I gave my alloy away to have it refurbed, the car was effectively off the road.
Anyway, the way it works (or is meant to) is the tyre depot subcontracts the work to a refurbing company in Kent. They pick up & drop off wheels on mondays & thursdays, ie 3 or 4 day turnaround. One small problem is they don't keep to a strict time on the monday/thursday, so really you have to drop the wheel off the day before to be safe.
So, having dropped my wheel off on wednesday (nearly 2 weeks ago) ready for the thursday, the tyre depot forgot to include my wheel in the thursday batch. That meant it had to wait until the following monday. It was then successfully picked up, but by then the refurbing company's machine unit had broken down and they didn't bother to return any wheels incl mine on the thursday.
Eventually the tyre depot made a special trip - the one good thing they did - to pick up my wheel late on friday, and I got it back on Saturday (yesterday).
So the wheel is still in exactly the same condition as when I dropped it off and I've been without my car for 10 days. Not happy and I know these things happen, but grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Sorry for the long & boring post, but it's been useful therapy.
I will try another place and report back, I think there was another recommendation earlier in this thread. If there are others, please post them here, especially if there's a mobile one who can do it on the spot
