When i was in the forces 20yrs ago i was at RAF Greenham Common for a couple of days when the cruise missile episode was going on, it might sound sad but i was thinking of taking a blast up that neck of the woods to have a look at the old airbase, but i was told it`s now a housing estate? true or false? would i get access to the site? i.e does any local know of a hole in the fence
Thanks Tony

If you follow the silo's fence round, you can usually 'apparently' find a hole and go nose round the silo's.There are some interesting buildings down in a dip,am sure one said the armoury.Do you know how deep the silo's and some of the buildings went down? You can get in them, just always foget to take a torch.

It's an industrial estate and open common land - access no problem at all and much of the American Airbase remains.

If you fancy seeing the old airbase again, why not come up on Sunday 14th August.
Dolphin Motor Club will be running an AutoSolo (cross between a Sprint and an Autotest) on one of the disused aircraft holding areas there.
