An update and will try and keep it short
Got a guy round who whipped out the shiny brochures banged on about triple insulation multilocks electric operation etcand quoted 1750. I wasnt really interested in motor worked as the old girl comes out once a month ( if i used it everyday then yes, motor is a must)
I enquired about manual, was told ,along the lines 'Donyt sell many most people buy this 1750 etc etc take an order sir?????
got another firm around. the converstion went

After measuring given a quote of 850.... deal done ( no hard sell, just mentioned it could be upgraded later IF i wanted to)
Got a follow up call from firm 1. Rang to give feedback and spoke to sales manager..he didnt like what i said about the price, not wanting to sell the manuak. Checked his records 'All our sales,en make notes'..Nothing on here about that..doubting my side of story. Then said we could have done a manual for 1250. Told him that this other firm was a motor one for less than that..got very shirty and 'hoped i wouldn't have much trouble with it'
Bad news... not on checkatrade
But will say the guts from National Garage door did it in under 2hrs and took every bit of scrap away
And on a slightly unrelated topic D/G firms
Wanted a patio door to replace a shed door .Needed sliding for the space, not worried about looks, if it could be done a door and window would also be ordered
Two came round..sharp intake of breath and said No Way
Three actually assessed the work read from the office desk and declined IMPOSSIBLE
One came round,said ok gave me a verbal quote but no follow up at all(2900) for all three items
The last guy rolled up ,laughed and said what were they thinking..No problem at all... They got the job there and then, the quote of 1750 was a bonus!!!
So BIG Thumbs up to Autumn Windows
And Scott at Ideal bathrooms also highly recommended, not the cheapest quote but work and follow ups excellent
And all local to Bracknell
