Just make sure your local mechanic uses OEM parts and notes it on the invoice for future reference and you'll be fine.

Warranty remains valid if service done by bona fide garage (VAT Registered is the main test) using genuine or OEM equivalent parts and oil and following the correct check list.

The OEM equivalent parts is the tricky one so best to use genuine parts and be very careful on the choice of oil.

Of course, should the worse happen and your engine detonates after doing this, expect a battle with the manufacturers warranty dept.

IANAL but was in dealership aftersales management for years and this was my understanding. HTH.

You need to check the warranty rules. As fast as I know the block exemption rule only applies to manufacturer warranty. You may find the Kia warranty isn't actually one warranty but a 2 or 3 year manufacturer warranty then the balance transferred.

You won't infringe the mechanical warranty by going outside the network but you will need to get the body inspected yearly by a Kia dealer to maintain the anti corrosion aspect (its normally done for free during your annual service)

Rightly or wrongly I expect you'll have hassle if you need to make a big claim (engine failure etc). They might payout to fix but it won't be as simple as if you had kia history (same for any marque IMHO).

Which model do you have? My dealer does a service pack for services 4,5&6 for £600. I think that is pretty good value at £200 per year for proper main dealer service.

Have you tried shopping around and /or comparing prices via the kia website?
