Matte Paint Repairs - HELP
Discussion
Guys
Does anybody have any experience of a bodyshop that do repairs to a Matte Paint Finish, my wife has a Citroen DS3 Racing with this paint (called black but is gunmetal to me), one of 10 in the UK and of 100 built, and somebody has dented the passenger door and scrapped some paint off. We are talking a door hitting it, not a car pushing the door panel in here. The local dealer where she bought the car new from has just had their body shop quote £3500 !!!!!!!!!! on the basis that they reckon they might have to paint the whole bloody car!
Whilst not a common paint finish, many manufacturers are offering this type of finish, Porsche, Audi, Alfa, BMW, Peugeot to name a few that I have seen.

To get an exact match you'll most likely have to paint the majority of the car.
A very good body shop will be able to get close enough that you probably won't notice the majority of the time.
The main problem is matching the finish, as no work is done once it's sprayed, no flat and polish. A difference in finish can greatly effect how it reflects light, which would probably be the most noticeable thing from a distance where you can't see the finish itself.
