Police convoy??

So driving down A327 from Arborfield towards Eversley this morning around 0900hrs there were 4 Police motorcyclists heading up towards Reading.
Around 1230hrs they were heading South, blue lights on, two in line astern then No3 just ahead of two plain Mitsubishi Shoguns - crew cab type followed by a plain, dark Blue Transit with a flat roof deck. All three had blue lights in their grills. No4 motorcyclist at the rear.
So it looked as if the bikes had been out for 1.5hrs to collect the convoy, then were escorting them to somewhere (Bramshill, Blackbushe, Aldershot maybe?).
Strange or what?
