Removing rumble strips A404 Wycombe

Locals will know the A404 Amersham Hill down into Wycombe, past the station where trucks have a habit of running into shop windows at the end of the road.
Well around 6-9 months ago they put 2 sets of mini rumble strips in at the top of the hill during the recent 'improvements'. Last week they removed them. Why? OK, so I'm no fan of this kind of thing, but it at least woke numpties up a little. They even put pedestrian refuges in the centre of the road to stop you driving around the rumbles too easily. They were not too bad anyway, even my TVR didn't rattle on them.
I'll never understand those traffic planning people.

Well I could think of a couple of possible reasons :-
1) School mums complaining that the strips might be damaging their 4x4's as they take Tarquin to school?
2) Of if it's anything like my work in March "must spend money somehow, so take them up and put them down again in another few weeks. That way we spend all of our budget" FFS

My MR2 came damn close to swapping ends over those strips. I'd imagine the residence complained about the noise at night.
Who-ever is in charge of Wycombe's transport/roads dept needs agood kicking.
Can't understand that unless it was icey/covered in snow or something? My TVR wasn't affected by them at all. But if there is ice and rain I wonder if they turn into an ice rink?

Like a 25kg barrier would stop a 40 ton truck... muppets.
Maybe they should just allow traffic to go straight on past the Post Office/Cop shop? The one way system seems to work well there, but removing it would solve the problem.
So how did this stuff get sold as a special road surface if it causes so many problems.
Bit like glass bus shelters you see around Wycombe (maybe other towns too). Scrotes see it as a challenge to break the panels, then someone has to pay to replace them. I see around 1 new breakage a week - one local one (towards the top of Totteridge Road) has had panels broken over 6 times. The bus shelter servicing company is onto a good thing if the council has to pay for each replaced glass panel. Maybe the council are stupid and just pay out, or maybe they're clever and have a contract with the suppliers/service company which covers breakage?!

Well the road does go right past a school at that point. But you never see kids walking, Tarquin and Zoe and always picked up by Mommy in her X5/ML.
I think I'm one of the few people who stick to 30mph along this road, both up and down the hill. Had a BMW up my back all the way up the hill the other evening, we eventually caught a car waiting at the Grammar School lights anyway. Pillock. No point in speeding in town, you'll only get caught at the next set of lights.
