National Trust properties worth a visit
Discussion
Does anyone have suggestions for some nice NT properties in the area worth visiting?
I'm going to go to Cliveden at some point but the other half wants to look around the house too which means we'll have to wait a few months until it reopens.
I want to to go somewhere nice and take some pretty photos while the family wander around.
Thank you

Winkworth Arboretum is beautiful in the autumn (e.g. right now). Although more of a "park" than "property". Get there early to avoid scrambling for a parking spot. A lovely place for a walk and a few pictures.

Not that I've been but Hughenden is near to Clivden - the home of Benjamin Disraeli and a bit further away is Waddesden Manor.
At the weekend I went to Nuffield Place, home of Lord Nuffield (William Morris), a small, modest home considering the amount of money he gave away. Greys Court isn't too far away either.
On the other side of Reading, near Pangbourne, is Basildon Park. If your other-half enjoyed Downton Abbey then she'll like Basildon Park as the rooms were used as the location of the family's London home.

I'll second all above, particularly Benjamin Disraeli`s place Hughenden, stunning house and gardens.Apparently it was used for WW2 top secret stuff and has a very interesting WW2 museum in the cellar.
I will add The Vine at Sherborne St John near Basingstoke and Hinton Ampner near Alresford.

I'd second the Vyne near Basingstoke, except it's roof is being renovated and has a lot of scaffolding up, and only the ground floor of the house is open.
However, when we were last there they were telling us that you will be able to get up on the roof for a walk about with the scaffolding - could give some spectacular views? Looks like this isn't until early 2017 though

A motoring forum must have a mention of Lord Nuffield's place! Nuffield Place
