A331 roadworks
Discussion
Well, day 2 of the roadwork's on the A331 (For installation of cycle lanes I'm led to believe?) has brought a bit fun and frolics in and around Camberley, plus an accident on The Avenue by the A30 means it's pretty grim out there, Frimley Road garage to Stanhope Road taking nigh on 40 minutes was a new PB for me.
I look forward to work starting on the meadows :-/

I spent about 30 minutes in them earlier this afternoon as well Picked up a prescription from Boots in Camberley and decided to head to The Meadows to do some shopping. Even at 2.30pm the queue from The Meadows was stretched all the way back up the A30 as far as Camberley Town Centre
Of course the queue wouldn't have been that long if people weren't tts and used the bloody bus lane outside of it's working hours Although at least that saved me at least 5 minutes and got me as far as the junction with the Frimley Road but from then on it was stop / start all the way to The Meadows
There were also 3 cars and 2 vans stuck inside the Yellow Box storage building because they couldn't exit it due to the congestion.
It's going to be so much fun come next year once they start the "hamburger" redesign. Basingstoke was bad enough when you had to get through that, even outside peak hours, so I'm expecting the same here. I wonder what the footfall will be like the next 2 years to the nearby businesses like M&S, Tesco & Next and also the those on the nearby industrial estates?

Fabulous - even at 6.45 this morning.
Traffic on the A30 seems to have virtually no priority at the lights now - they are green only for about 15s, whereas coming from the Sandhurst direction they are green for a good couple of minutes.
But apparently that's not enough - I could see their lights turn red, and the w*****s just carried on coming so that they blocked the roundabout. Not just on amber - but on full red.
Tomorrow, one of them may find a Cayenne embedded in the side of their car.

Frimley Park to Sandhurst over an hour on Monday. FFS.
I have a local Councillor looking into it, not sure what good it will do. If I get anything back, I will post up here.
I doubt it will, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. For work, it's frustrating - but I leave early enough that it's not a major delay in the mornings - and for the last two days, I get slightly delayed at Meadows on the way back but am early enough (get there about 16:10) that it's not too bad. But it severely impacts the rest of the time - decide I need some shopping in the evening? Forget it. Need to go anywhere at the weekend? I'm guessing I won't be!

Just imagine what it will be like come Christmas and the New Year sales It is a complete nightmare.
Unfortunately I'm one of those that have to use this route at rush hour both ends of the day. It even meant the morning school run took three times as long as it should for my wife both yesterday and today.
God only knows the impact once the Christmas shopping traffic kicks in.
As has already been suggested, remove the lights around the Meadows roundabout and this will make a big difference.
Does anyone have the details regarding what they're actually doing during the works?

I emailed last week asking for this, and was greeted with the usual "well aim to respond in 5 days"Unfortunately I'm one of those that have to use this route at rush hour both ends of the day. A331 Blackwater Valley Road project
Scheme overview
A331 new cyclewayThe works will include the construction of new crossing facilities, improvements to the existing traffic signals, and a new path for cyclists and pedestrians next to the Southbound carriageway of the A331.
Once constructed, the new path will provide a link from Blackwater railway station down to Sainsbury’s supermarket on the A331. It will also cross the A331 at the junction with Riverside Way and link to the Blackwater Valley leisure route.
These works started on 26 September 2016 and will be ongoing for approximately three months.
Traffic management
Lane closure: 26 September 2016 – 3 December 2016.
Location: Southbound carriageway of A331 Blackwater Valley Road, Camberley.
Working hours: Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm.
There will be a 24 hour lane closure in place along the Southbound carriageway of the A331 Blackwater Valley Road from The Meadows roundabout to Sainsbury’s supermarket. A reduced 40mph speed limit will also be in place during our works.
Please note: the location of the traffic management is to protect the workforce whilst they are on site, to create a safe area for the site machinery to operate and to protect all road users from any deep excavation works previously carried out.

Thanks for the details, I had heard similar but couldn't quite believe that's all it was!
3 months to put a cycle lane and path in place, wow. I wonder what research has been done to show the levels of demand for a path between Blackwater station and Sainsburys that could justify such work and spend.
Seriously, how do they get away with such poor planning and management? There must be more efficient ways of going about projects like this, surely it's a matter of throwing people at it to get it done in weeks not months.

I have stopped being dismayed by the decisions taken by the local planners. The A30 in Bagshot being dug up 3 times and then having a set of st lights installed basically broke my resistance.
It will happen to you all soon as well, resistance is futile, we must accpet we need that cycle lane.

Re Lights at roundabouts
The Met office roundabout in Bracknell has not had its lightsoperating for several months.
Traffic running smoothly
Lights back and the stop /start going around now, waiting on a red for non existent traffic to pass in front of you, is really boiling my piss.
IF and it is a very big IF, they think that the lights smooth out traffic flow during the rush hour, why dont they make the peak hours only, as they have at the Birch hill roundabout on the A3095
Ditto the lights at thr Sport Centre. Again did anyone check on how much st is being pumped out by stationary trffic at 21.00 each night when they are NOT needed.
Evidently the brain dead cretins who actually get paid to think up this crap dont live here to see the results of their 'Great ideas'

Far too long to put in some hardcore and tarmac. There's already traffic lights at Riverside Way so just make them pedestrian controlled and the peds and cyclists can cross there.
As you write, how much demand for such an expense?
Similar to the waste of money I saw when coming back from Silverstone recently. A tarmac pavement is being put beside the A413 for 6 miles between Buckingham and Winslow. There's maybe 6 farms/houses on this road and I've never seen a pedestrian or cyclist on it.

And removal of the traffic lights, why no-one ever realises why the traffic flows better without them is beyond me and most of us I think!a bit of paint marking is all that's needed - wkers
