priced out of my area looking at bloxham now
Discussion
After failing to find a older non estate house detached with largish back garden in surrey for myself or my price range in surrey i click on the odd pic of houses for sale in banbury bloxham area....Dont know anything about the place but it appears oldy but its 1.5 hours from where i currently live im on checkatrade so i guess it should not be too much of a problem for work. I just wonder if its too quiet? i go to the pub most evenings so would be nice to be in a place thats not too chavy and has a few lively pubs not clock tickers why is banbury much cheaper? what are the downsides?
I grew up in that area and my parents are still there. Many of the villages surrounding Banbury, including Bloxham and Adderbury, are very nice but Banbury itself is a bit of a hole. Many of the villages are starting to spread with large developments being built on the edges.
They've got a great rugby club at Banbury
Drop me a PM if you want to know anything specific.

Parts of Banbury are ok, others are really quite rough, as in bottom 5 or 10% in the country for deprivation.
Bloxham is nice enough, but the A361 runs straight through it, meaning lots of HGV traffic between Banbury/M40 and the Cotswolds down its narrow main street. There are also a number of new developments in the village that were won at planning appeal when the council couldn't get their sh*t in order which are really putting the local services under stress.
