Twyford Station Car Park
Discussion
My wife's due to start a new job soon in an office based near Paddington so she's planning on catching the train from Twyford (Berkshire).
When she went for her interviews, she caught a mid-morning train and there were no spaces at all in the station car parks.
I was wondering, therefore, whether anyone can give me an idea of what time the station car park fills up by of a morning and whether there are any worthwhile alternatives, such as the long-stay car park on Polehampton Close?
Thanks, in advance...

It's a right pain - you always used to be able to get a space at any time of day but the last couple of years, you need to be there before 8am to be sure of it. There's no real alternative parking either - a small car park near the library, but I've never found any space there either and it's a bit of a walk. I can't imagine the Waitrose option being terribly practical either - according to Parkopedia it's customers only and limited to three hours anyway.
When I was using the station regularly, I generally cycled in. Depends on how far away you are but I found it to be a good option (saves your £6/day or whatever it is for a start!).

Only place I can think of is the Waitrose car park at the crossroads, it's not a ticket car park and I don't think it has wardens and only a 3/4min walk to the station.
They are on to this with a private firm patrolling.Park there for a few hours and you will get a snotty letter. Not sure what happens if you try it on day after day but I`m sure you will be on a looser. There is also a small car park at Polehampton Close with a walk way that comes out opposite The Haweli Indian in Church St.

I used to commute in via Twyford, 'fraid to say if you arrive later than 07:45-ish you're lucky to get a space, later than 9 and you can almost guarantee you won't get parked. Not really many other options locally either, depending on what time I needed to be in I resorted to getting a lift from the missus.....
I tried driving to M'head instead a couple of times and that was even worse.

Parking in general is horrible now, the parking behind my dads shop at the crossroads seems to always be overflowing with cars that shouldn't be there and I often have to park in Waitrose.

Parking at Twyford station is a nightmare.
I have just moved into a flat 30 yards from the station.
It has its own secluded and safe off street parking bay.
I have no car so would willingly rent this space.

You're probably about 3 years too late based on when the OP started this thread I have just moved into a flat 30 yards from the station.

AFAIK Waitrose employ their own parking attendant who collects numbers.Have heard its even worse now since Liz Line has opened......and Network Rail say there's no money to create more space, and the council are trying to crack down on the overflow parking issue....understandably, but what are people supposed to do if no increase in capacity?
If you create a more in demand rail service, but don't increase the parking, as unless you live right by the station, how else are you supposed to access the rail service from nearby areas!
At this rate, if you're not there by 6.30am soon you won't get a space

Not really a Network Rail issue, more a local council issue. Either they provide a better local transport provision eg. buses or they stop building houses in the wider area If you create a more in demand rail service, but don't increase the parking, as unless you live right by the station, how else are you supposed to access the rail service from nearby areas!

I suspect it is a Network Rail issue. They managed to build the completely pointless unused double decker extension to Wokingham station car park. Perhaps it could be transplanted to Twyford?
While walking through Twyford station earlier I did spot that someone has set up a petition for a car park extension and signed it.
