Not your normal break in, in fact they didn't actually break into the car. FiL is selling his Accord & moved it today so it was easier to get off the drive for viewers to test drive. Started it & it sounded like a tank, 'st! Blown manifold he thinks' (just had an exhaust so didn't think it was that). Called me & I went over to bring him back from the garage assuming he'd have to leave it but I took a look first & found a 2 feet gap in the exhaust where the cat should be - some bd has cut it out. They're in Lower Earley near ASDA & surprisingly travellers have arrived less than a mile up the road. Jumping to conclusions? I don't think so. I fkin' hate s. mad

Anyone in the area be warned.

Recall driving home one night an seeing a pair of legs stuck out under the back end of a Laguna I think.

I knew it was my neighbours dad's car so pulled over and had a second look to make sure they weren't his 70 odd yr old legs.

They weren't his and felt the person may be hurt being under a car at 2 in the morning so I followed my first aid training and checked if the person was responsive by gently treading on his ankles.

smile

Wasn't sure so checked twice.

biggrin

It's very common, they did all of Tesco in Sunburys vans one night, all the cats taken. I stopped a guy not long after it (not a pie key) who said he could remove a cat in under 5 minutes, so doing a load of vans was easy

Dont they just use a battery powered angle grinder and cut through both sides?

I think that the key to this and all metal thefts is the metal recyclers, they need much bigger punishments for handling stolen metal, jail and being shut down might make them think twice about taking these things in

My old Pug 406 oil burner was done on my driveway in Woodstock a few years back, same night 3 more 406s were done in the village, apparently an easy car to nick the cat from.

I'd advised the in-laws that the car may get written off & that's exactly what they've been told (£1300 for a full system from Honda) although TBF the insurers are now pricing up pattern parts & will let them know.

Not a new thing - 3/4 years ago I was between jobs and working for a national supermarket chain delivering on-line shopping orders.

We suddenly had to start parking the vans in the gated loading bay as they had one store nearby targeted and all the cats got removed from the delivery vans! Then a load of cats got removed from cars outside a nearby Toyota dealership!

As they say on the telly, Location, Location, Location - and you really don't really want to live in RG12 (aka Crapnell)?
