It's my Grandmothers 80th in a couple of months and we have family coming from far to celebrate with us. I'm looking for somewhere cozy, that would be comfortable with 25 of us, isn't too expensive and in the vicinity of Yateley. Any suggestions apperciated smile

Phoenix Inn at Hartley Whintney has good food but whether they'd cope with the numbers is up to them.
Also one man's reasonable price is another's expensive - maybe they'd do a set/fixed price meal?

Cheers, Pewe.

A couple of 'chain' places you could check out are the Ely (on the A30) and the Heron on the Lake in Fleet. Haven't tried the Ely but have eaten at the Heron a fair few years ago and was ok pub food. I think both would be able to accommodate a party of 25.

It may be a little more expensive, but better food, is The Golden Pot in Eversley; it's a favourite of ours, although we haven't been for a while. Whether they could comfortably seat you all, you'd have to check it out.

The Highwayman in Yately is half restaurant half bar and I’m sure 25 people would get you the whole restaurant half exclusively.

They make some great mussels smile

Try The Chequers in Eversley. The food has been excellent when I've eating there, the staff were attentive and the interior is very nice.

Thanks Guys. The Ely was the first place that popped to mind as it's round the corner from her house. The Highwayman looks to have closed down. Think I might pay Chequers a visit, it looks nice.

Chequers is nice but bring your cheque book, upper end of acceptable prices. The Greyhound just up the road is nice and more affordable, and the Tally Ho down the road from there is wonderful.

Have a look at The Crown and Cushion/Mead Hall. I ate there recently and the food and service were excellent.

Had a meal here last Thursday eve. First visit.

Nice enough pub, lots of parking and good food. Reasonably priced.

I can't be the only one suspecting something underhand there?

"Oops, my pub seems to have burned down. Hey-ho! Might as well build some houses on it now, eh?"

Oh, and another vote for the Mead Hall at the Crown and Cushion. It's been a while since I was in there, but never had a bad experience in the past. If it's the same team running the place as when I was tasked with organising a department Christmas meal a few years ago, they could not have been more helpful.

The Tally Ho! is good to. I used to go there a lot when it was a Blubeckers. The Mill House in North Warnborough was also a Blubeckers, and I'd recommend it too. But might be too far out of Yateley for you?
